Marcel Rodeka is a professional drummer, songwriter and drum teacher with over five decades of experience in music.
He first emerged in the 1970’s with popular New Zealand band Mother Goose before building a long career across New Zealand and Australia as a live performer and recording musician.
Today, Marcel is the drummer for iconic Dunedin band Oxo Cubans (NZ) and continues to work across a wide range of live shows and studio projects.
In 2025, he released his first solo EP, The Art of Not Looking Back, an instrumental, atmospheric collection that marked a new creative chapter beyond the drum kit.
Marcel is now focused on writing and recording song-based material with melody and vocals, bringing together a lifetime of rhythm, feel and storytelling into his next body of work. His recent release, Asian Paradise – a reimagined cover of the Sharon O’Neill classic – reflects this evolving direction and his love of song, atmosphere and emotional connection.
