Lando Release New Single ‘Deprivation’ + Announce Upcoming EP

Lando is an indie alternative rock project started by Orlando Cooper (guitar, production – Psycho Gab, BEX, jackaltheblackal) who began experimenting with songwriting and home recording in 2021. Orlando expanded the group to include friends and local musicians, Lucas Davidson (vocals), Finn McNeill (drums – Psycho Gab, Fruju Peak, Eliza) and Ryan Tomov (bass – Fruju Peak, WAIWHAI.) After self-recording and releasing their EP Lost At Sea in 2022, the band became a well known force in the Auckland all ages/underground scene of the time.

As Orlando’s confidence in recording grew, so did his ambitions. Motivating himself with the goal of producing an album with Lando. This proved too difficult with slow progress, ultimately halted when Orlando’s studio Bilbo’s Clubhouse was flooded in the January 2023 Auckland floods. The band disbanded soon after, but remained good friends, venturing into new projects. Luckily many of the songs were recorded and left in various states, from live tracked to full overdubs. Deprivation was written in an afternoon by Orlando and Lucas, with the recording featuring Lucas’ live one take vocal performance.

Over the past year Orlando and Lucas worked filling holes in writing and backing vocals to produce the EP as a finished project.
